Who this is for
- Video essayists
- You have an argument to make and need visuals that back up each point instead of just filling the screen.
- History channels
- Your videos need archive research, old newspaper clippings, period music and maps that show where things happened.
- Journalists and researchers
- You have a lot of research and interviews and need someone to shape them into a story people will sit through.
What goes into a documentary edit
- Maps
- Animated maps for borders, routes and movements, built for your story instead of a flat image with an arrow on it.
- Archive footage
- We crop and grade old photos and newsreels and add slow camera moves so they do not sit flat on screen.
- Story and pacing
- We plan where the video speeds up and slows down so people keep watching through a long runtime.
- Sound
- Ambient sound, music and effects under a clean voiceover, mixed to -14 LUFS.
How a documentary edit works
Day 0
You send the script and sources
Send the voiceover, script and your source links. We read it all and plan how each part of the story will look.
Days 1 to 2
We research and build the first cut
Your editor finds the archive footage, lays down b-roll and animates the main maps and charts.
Days 3 to 4
You review it
You watch the full cut on the review page, check that the visuals match the facts and leave notes at the exact second.
Day 5
Final color, sound and export
We finish the color and the sound mix and export the final file.
Turnaround and revisions
Documentaries take longer than talking-head videos because each minute needs so much footage. A 15 to 25 minute documentary usually takes 5 to 7 days, and we agree on the date before we start.
We keep revising until you are happy, including checking names, dates and pictures before the video goes live.

How pricing works
Documentary prices depend mostly on length and how much animation the script needs. A script with thirty maps and hard-to-find archive footage takes far more time than one built on interviews you already filmed.
We read your script, check what footage you already have and give you a fixed price before any editing starts.
What changes the price:
- Script length. A 3,000 word script is usually around 20 minutes of finished video, and every minute needs footage.
- Maps and 3D. Each animated map is made for your story. 3D scenes take the most time and cost more.
- Your own sources. If you send archive links with the script, we spend less time searching and the price goes down.
- Sound. A detailed sound mix takes time, but it is a big part of why documentaries feel serious.
Some videos we edited

The Industrial Revolution
History channel, 2026
Archival footage, hand-built map animations and a score that slowly tightens.

The Architecture of Silence
Design studio, 2026
Slow cuts, a lot of concrete, and the room tone left in on purpose.

How Silicon Valley Changed Forever
Tech documentary, 2026
Archive clips tracked into simple 3D scenes. At 24 minutes, the pacing mattered most.
Questions
Where does the archive footage come from?
Public domain archives, licensed stock libraries and anything you send us. We check where each clip comes from before it goes in.
Can you animate maps for battles or routes?
Yes. We build the map, markers and routes around what your script describes.
How long can the documentary be?
Long is fine. Longer videos just take more days, and we agree on the date before we start.
Can you do chapter cards and document callouts?
Yes. We make chapter title cards, highlight lines in newspapers and documents, and zoom in on the parts that matter.
